A couple of days ago I was browsing through my bloglovin' feed and clicked into a new blog post by one of my favourite bloggers. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful picture that accompanied the post. It was a photo of her, which in my eyes she looked amazing in. Then, when I started to read the post the first thing she did was apologise for how 'bad' she looked in the photo, she said her hair was an unbrushed mess, but to me, it was natural and effortlessly gorgeous.

This got me thinking about how we criticise ourselves so much, more than anyone else ever does. I do it too. I'm the first to admit that I have to take at least 20 selfies before I find one I think I look ok in, when in reality, most people would probably have thought the first one was perfectly fine.

Why do we look at ourselves in the mirror and in photos and focus on the things we don't like? Yeah, that girl's hair was kinda messy but her outfit was on point. And maybe my forehead looks huge but what about how nice my smile looks? Chances are, when other people look at you they see all the lovely things about you, I know I see them in others.

Lets try being a little less critical of ourselves, lets stop looking for the flaws in ourselves and recognise all the beautiful things about ourselves. I know it's a lot easier said than done but now that I'm aware of doing it I'm really going to make an effort. Think of all the time you will save trying to get the perfect selfie for Instagram if you use one of the first ones!

Do you struggle with critisizing your own looks too or have you learned to be a little easier on yourself? Do share your thoughts with me in the comments.
