MY FAVOURITE THINGS ABOUT AUTUMN

27 Sep 2017

It's that time of year again, Autumn! I can't believe how fast this year has gone, literally it feels like we've just had Easter, what's happening?! I'm not complaining about summer being over. It's usually a bit of a let down in Ireland anyways. Warm rain is generally as good as it gets. Autumn on the other hand can be pretty beautiful in this country and I think that's why it's my favourite season. Here's why I fricken' love Autumn.

In Style

Ooooh boy, Autumn fashion is just the best. I love the colour palette. Burgundys, Khaki greens, mustards, forsest green, burnt orange - it's all just so lovely. Ankle boots and knitted scarves are just the epitome of cosiness. I'm in the midst of updating my wardrobe with some A/W bits. Maybe I will do a little haul/look book on what I got. Don't even get me started on autumn make-up. Two words - berry lips.

In the home

There's nothing I love more than coming home on a dark and cold autumn evening. Especially now that we got a new stove to snuggle in by. Uhhh I'm thinking about candles and fairy lights, cuddling my pups, slipper socks, burning fires, and hot chocolates in my favourite mug. Cosy nights in are so much better in Autumn.

In Nature

Autumn is probably my favourite time to go on walks, especially woodland walks. Conkers and fallen leaves weirdly remind me of my childhood and simpler times. I love going outside and trying to capture some pretty nature shots with my big camera at this time of year. There is nothing quiet like a sunny Autumn day when the air is cold and there's a beautiful early sunset.

In The Blogosphere

Blog content is my favourite at this time of the year. I feel like it's the most photogenic time so everyone's photos are so stunning. I love all the topics people talk about during Autumn. Fashion and beauty blogs are killing it with amazing style and trends and lifestyle blogs are all so cosy and inspiring that they make me love Autumn even more!

Do you all agree that Autumn is awesome? What's your favourite thing about this season? Let me know down below my loves!

WHY ARE WE OUR OWN WORST CRITICS?

24 Sep 2017

A couple of days ago I was browsing through my bloglovin' feed and clicked into a new blog post by one of my favourite bloggers. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful picture that accompanied the post. It was a photo of her, which in my eyes she looked amazing in. Then, when I started to read the post the first thing she did was apologise for how 'bad' she looked in the photo, she said her hair was an unbrushed mess, but to me, it was natural and effortlessly gorgeous.

This got me thinking about how we criticise ourselves so much, more than anyone else ever does. I do it too. I'm the first to admit that I have to take at least 20 selfies before I find one I think I look ok in, when in reality, most people would probably have thought the first one was perfectly fine.

Why do we look at ourselves in the mirror and in photos and focus on the things we don't like? Yeah, that girl's hair was kinda messy but her outfit was on point. And maybe my forehead looks huge but what about how nice my smile looks? Chances are, when other people look at you they see all the lovely things about you, I know I see them in others.

Lets try being a little less critical of ourselves, lets stop looking for the flaws in ourselves and recognise all the beautiful things about ourselves. I know it's a lot easier said than done but now that I'm aware of doing it I'm really going to make an effort. Think of all the time you will save trying to get the perfect selfie for Instagram if you use one of the first ones!

Do you struggle with critisizing your own looks too or have you learned to be a little easier on yourself? Do share your thoughts with me in the comments.

THE FOUR BEAUTY PRODUCTS I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT

13 Sep 2017

Hey ho everyone! Happy hump day! I Hope your week is going swimmingly. So we all know that beauty posts are definitely not my forté I just don't purchase enough make-up to feature it regularly. That's not to say I don't love it though, I just stick to things I love and don't see the point in buying a million and one different contour kits to try, if I already have one I love, y'know? So I thought I would write a little post about some of those favourite staple products.

Benefit Brow Zings

No word of a lie, this thing is as important to me in my day to day life as like, water and oxygen. No seriously, as sad as this may be, I don't think I could leave the house without some of this on, even if I have no other make-up on. You may be wondering why so because if you've seen a photo of me you will know that I have a decent set of eyebrows naturally but they have so many bald spots, are uneven and the shape just isn't great. Brow Zing to the rescue! I use the wax side to make an outline of my brows and to fill in the gaps, I then go through my brows with the powder side for a natural finish. This is no doubt my most cherished item of make-up.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Not someone talking about this God damn concealer again...yup! What can I say, this has just got to make the list of products I couldn't live without. There's not too much to say about this because I'm sure most of you have tried it out but my under eye dark circles are one of my biggest insecurities so I could marry whoever created this magic potion for sorting me out!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Over the years I have tried so many mascaras both drugstore and high street, I liked a lot of them but there was none I could say 'you're the one for life' to. There was something lacking in all of them. Then I met 'Better than sex' and I haven't wasted any money on a shitty mascara since. This does everything I want a mascara to do, lengthens, thickens and doesn't clump! It feels so sturdy and luxurious too which is a plus.

The Balm Highlite n' ConTour palette

I have been keeping my eyes out for a good contour palette ever since it first became a trend, but for some reason I kept avoiding buying a good one. I'm not sure why. Then when I was in Debenhams one day this one by The Balm really caught my eye. The packaging is so cute and creative, it's a concert theme with all the shades named after hertz and decibels. I hadn't heard this being raved about before but my heart said to chance it, even though it was almost €40. Boy am I glad I took the risk. I use the bottom left shade to contour and it's perfect for me, super natural and not orange or dirty looking. I sweep the top right matte highlighter over my cheek bones and forehead and follow with a little bit of the top left (which is a stunning sparkly highlighter) I also use the blush every single day. So basically this covers all my face powders and it's got a great big mirror which is always a bonus.

There we have it! My top 4 holy grail / could not live without beauty products. If you were thinking about buying any of these products before - do it! *no pressure*

What are you most coveted beauty products? Do you prefer to keep trying different things or are you like me and stick to what you like? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
