HOW I THINK IT HELPS TO BE AN INTROVERT WHEN BLOGGING

Blogging seems like a very 'out-there' thing to do. You are literally presenting yourself and your life on the internet for all to see. One might think that you would have to be an extremely outgoing, chatty and extroverted person to take up such a hobby/career. In fact, it might be a little difficult for some people to understand why those who are more reserved would ever enjoy such a thing.

I have found that being an introvert actually has many benefits when blogging.

If there is one thing I have noticed about the blogging community is that the vast majority of bloggers seem to be more introverted than extroverted. Which kinda makes sense, its creative nature and its focus on 'the self' means it's a hobby that suits us introverts. Blogging means spending a lot of time alone and I sure do love a little alone time to unwind.

There's nothing to say that introverts don't have loads of friends and a gleaming social life but sometimes we don't open up as easily as our more extroverted friends, I know I definitely don't. So I enjoy having an outlet to let out my thoughts and feelings when in the real world, I would just rather stay quiet.

On that note, introverts tend to be more in touch with their emotions. We reflect until we can understand our feelings and figure out what we can learn from them. Blogging is such a useful tool to help me do this.

I've heard that introverts don't really enjoy small-talk, this would definitely be the case for me - I'm so awkward making small talk. It's when I get into a more in-depth conversation about real subjects, that I become a little more interesting and talkative. So getting to be all deep and meaningful and get into those juicy topics on the blog is something I really enjoy doing.

Another good quality that comes along with being introverted is we are pretty self-sufficient, we know that we can manage things on our own which is fairly important if one wants to set up their own self-run online blog and hopes for it to be semi-successful!

Introverts are also meant to be really observant. We notice changes in the world around us, we take it all in. Even if it's just a new fashion trend or some phenomenon emerging in modern culture, this means we may have fresh and interesting things to write about.

So yeah, in theory, blogging does seem like a very extroverted activity. But I, a proud introvert can vouch for the fact that our characteristics are actually really beneficial for what it requires to be a blogger!

What are your thoughts on this topic? Are you intorverted or extroverted and how to you think that affects you when blogging? Would you agree that blogging is a surprisingly perfect hobby for introverts?
