Escaping to the Mountains | Slieve Aughty

Hey everyone! Last weekend I visited Slieve Auchty adventure centre and it was oh so beautiful and unique. Me being me took a tonne of photos of everything. I didn't have my big camera with me so these were all taken on my phone. I thought I would share them here with you as I haven't done a photo diary/adventure type post in the longest time.

The adventure centre is located in East Co.Galway but the wooden houses, balconys and glorious blue skys made me feel like I was in Australia or somewhere cool like that. It is sorta in the middle of nowhere up a narrow road on a wooded mountain. Exactly my kinda place. I love getting away from everything and switching off from the world. It is such a peaceful place, all you could hear were the birds happily singing.

The place has such a laidback hippy vibe. There's a camping site with fire pits, or you can stay in one of the gorgeous little houses. There are also rooms upstairs in the main building.

It's an eco-friendly resort so the entire menu in the restaurant uses food grown in their garden or locally sourced. Nearly everything in the place is handmade. We even watched some people making chairs outside.

It was a bit like stepping back in time as everything was so rustic and old. Sure shiny modern furnishings are great and all but grungy old things have a certain charm about them too... I mean just look at the shop...
Throwing in a quick little OOTD! Top - Penneys (Primark), Jeans - River Island, Shoes - Marco Tozzi.
There are some lovely nature trails on the grounds of Slieve Aughty, a perfect way to pass an hour or two on a sunny afternoon.

There is also an 'Enchanted Forest' which is kinda for the kiddies, or adults too if you believe in fairies! The little forest in inhabited by fairies, goblins and all things magical. There are little doors in the trees in to the different fairies houses.

The forest was so cute. The attention to detail was pretty impressive. There was even a witches fort with a cauldron and everything. I didn't take a picture of that though - incase I would be cursed ;)
One of my favourite things in the forest was the wishing tree. Here you could write a little wish and attach it to the tree. I spent a good ten minutes reading some of the innocent wishes from little kids.
All in all, it was such a lovely little getaway, without even getting away, I mean, I didn't even leave Galway! It didn't feel like that though. It felt like somewhere far away for so many reasons. 1. the weather was fabulous. 2. All the old rustic buildings made it feel like a different time and 3. the enchanted forest felt a bit like another world, It was kinda like I stepped in to Narnia for a little bit! In a good way!
