Lifestyle Changes I Want To Make
Lately I've been feeling like my life isn't as healthy and fulfilling as it could be. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy and am in a great place mentally but I just feel like I could do better. I've been thinking about it alot and trying to figure out what it is I need to do and change to make my life the best that it can be so I thought I would write a little blog post about what I came up with so I can see it all on paper, or should I say on screen!
So the main issue in my life at the moment is the lack of time due to work. I feel like I have very little time to do anything else but work. My shift is 11am to 8pm 5 days a week, 9am to 6pm on a rare day. I get up, go to work, come home, and by that time it's too late (and I'm too tired) to do anything but chill and watch tv.

This is 100% the most beneficial thing I could do and I know it. The thing is I am absolutely not a morning person. Like I am the most un-morningy person you could probably ever meet. I find it so hard to peel myself out of my lovely warm bed, especially on these cold winter mornings. At the moment I get up between 9.30 and 10am (closer to 10 to be honest!) and even at that I'm like "nooo, need more sleeeep!"
In fact I look a little bit like the picture above in the morning when I first sit up...
I'm really going to try and push myself to get up earlier and earlier every morning until I can happily rise at around 7.30. That way I would have three and a half hours to do things I want to do. I can take my time showering and getting ready. I can make a really lovely breakfast, I could write my blog, read other blogs, go for a walk with Nicky and get some fresh air, catch up on errands, I could even take a quick trip in to the city if I need something instead of having to wait until my day off.
It would just be so much better and I would really love if anyone could recommend a way to push myself to get up earlier and stay going all day long.
Along with getting up early, exercising is something else I suck big time at. I am SO unfit and get out of breath going up a flight of stairs. I would really love to change that. Also, I wouldn't mind toning up around my waistline! Right now, the only exercise I get is going for long walks and I only do that on days when it's not raining, which are very rare here in Ireland.
I have been thinking about joining a gym. I would be so bad at the machines at first though so I am kind of scared to take the leap. But getting up early and going to the gym for a swim or just a walk on the treadmill would do me wonders so I'm really trying to build up the courage and just join it! If anyone would like to share their experiences of gyming with me, I would love that!
This one I am not so bad at at the moment I would like to think. I have a good breakfast of Shredded Wheat with blueberries. I have fresh vegetables and meat for dinner every day and I try to eat well when I come home in the evening. However, I just want to become more educated about the different nutrients I need and try to eat a more balanced diet so I'm not lacking in anything. I want to try new things like avocados and herbal teas and just try out different clean foods to see what I like.
This is so cliché but I always want to try drink more water. Like seriously, I need to cut out the fizzy drinks. Hopefully it would do me the world of good.
Look After My Appearance
This is a shallow one. I'm definitely not a slob now and I do love my make-up and fashion but I would love to be better and put more effort in. For example my nails are a mess so I would love to get them sorted out in a salon by a professional and maybe get them to fix my eyebrows whilst they're at it haha.
I want to try out better make-up, especially foundation and not be afraid to spend a few extra pennies on some good quality stuff. Also, I would love to get a few new capsule wardrobe pieces, I've got my eye on some black Topshop Jamie jeans.
Re-decorate My Room
Ok so this one isn't really relevant to the topic, like putting a few shelves in isn't exactly changing my lifestyle but it's changing where I live a bit so I'm going to run with it. I really want to change my room. I want to change the colour theme, paint the walls, get rid of my desk, put in more floating shelves and decorate them with beautiful photo frames and ornaments, have lovely duvets and cushions and all that good stuff. I've been dreaming about a make over for ages, and I'm not sure when it's going to happen, if ever but a girl can plan right?!
So they are just a few things I would like to do and improve in my life. I just want to make the most of it and be healthy and happy. If there is anything you can recommend that you feel contributes to your happiness and well being I would absolutely love to hear it. Let me know in the comments section so I can get some ideas!
