100 Happy Days Weekly Round-Up 14 | FINISHED!

16 Feb 2015

Day 92 - Sunday 08/02/15 | The fog never rose on Sunday so everywhere looked very mystical and spooky for the day. It was a good excuse not to leave the house though as I hate driving in fog!

Day 93 - Monday 09/02/15 | On Monday, I went down to Limerick (1.5 hours away) My dad has this sudden and intense obsession with buying antique clocks and he wanted me to keep him company on his trek down past Limerick. I was not keen but I made him promise that he would let me go in to the shopping centre in the city for an hour and he agreed. I only bought a cardigan and a really cool leather skirt in H & M but at least I got something out of the journey (he ended up not buying the clock!)

Day 94 - Tuesday 10/02/15 | Evening cuddles and tea on the couch with Nicky. Standard.

Day 95 - Wednesday 11/02/15 | Some nephew time today. He is such a little cutie. He has gotten so much better with talking and he calls me 'Shade' his sisters used to call me that too!

Day 96 - Thursday 12/02/15 | My first ever mocha today. I like it a lot! I will definitely be getting it again in a better cafe because I'm guessing this one didn't do the best coffees. I have really acquired a taste for coffee lately, I used to hate it!

Day 97 - Friday 13/02/15 | I was at the docks and I just had to take a picture of the buildings reflecting on the calm water. I love how being interested in photography makes me notice little beauties like this. So many people were walking by, not even looking or realising how picture perfect the place was.

Day 98 - Saturday 14/02/15 | Valentines day was a non-event as it usually is for me (whether single or taken) but here's a picture of someone I love - my niece, looking cute on V-day!

Day 99 - Sunday 15/02/14 | Today I hung out with one of my best friends I hadn't seen in over a month. I went to house to visit armed with lots of chocolate to munch over during our well needed catch up.

Day 100 - Monday 16/02/15 | The sun is setting on the challenge guys! haha. It was such a beautiful day and as I was sitting in the car waiting for my mum for ages I had a little careoke session as well as a photoshoot where I tried to create my silhouette in the sun. Yup that's how I roll!

My favourite thing about this challenge is it has made me consciously look for the little joys in everyday, no matter how small, there really is always something beautiful. I feel like I will now go forward with a keener eye for the blessings in life. I will hopefully be more appreciative and a generally happier woman. I want to do another Sunday series here on my blog that continues to help me be thankful and happy.

Here's to Happiness.

Get To Know Me | A - Z

10 Feb 2015

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great Tuesday!

Since I have been interacting with lots of new blogger friends I decided I would do a 'get to know me' post so you could all, um, get to know me a little bit better by means of some useless facts about me! I saw this interview type post floating around the blogosphere and I thought I would give it a go. Ok, let's get to it shall we.

A. Attached or Single I've been very single for the past 6 months and I like it!

B. Best Friend? My best friend is someone I met on the very first day of primary school when we were 4 years old. From playing with barbies to 5am taxis home from crazy nights out, we've grown up together. So much love.

C. Cake or Pie? Cake! but in moderation or I will be sick. I don't have much of a sweet tooth. I really love red velvet cake/cupcakes at the minute though!

D. Day of Choice? Saturday, I get to have an often badly needed sleep in and spend the whole day being unproductive and lazy. Yay.

E. Essential Item? My phone. A very predictable item but it's like an extra limb; trying to cut down on the dependancy haha!

F. Favourite Colour? Mint/turquoise. It's my blog theme colour, my bedroom theme colour and I have a lot of clothes that colour.

G. Gummy Bears or Worms? I really don't like those kind of sweets. Just looking at them makes me feel like my teeth are rotting in my head haha. I do like the natural confectionery snakes though!

H. Home town? The lovely Galway, Ireland. Well, really I have no home town as I live in the countryside but it's the nearest little city (20 mins drive)

I. Indulgence? Pizza. It's so bad for me but some evenings I just like to have a big cheesy pizza to make my day 10x better haha.

J. January or July? July without a doubt. I would say July is probably my favourite month overall and January my least. I love summer and January is pretty depressing to me!

K. Kids? I would love to have kids some day but not for a very long time.

L. Life is not complete without...? Family and friends! at the end of the day, people are all that matter. Material items add nothing to our lives.

M. Memory you cherish? I left this question to the end and I still cannot think of something to put here. There are so many memories I cherish, it is a combination of them all that make up my life and who I am so I don't think I can pick just one memory that I cherish over all the others. Sorry, I'm cheating!

N. Numbers of brothers/sisters? I have one brother and one sister. They are both older than me. My sister is 36 and my brother is 31 so I am very much the baby in my family and I feel like I was an only child really as when I was a child they weren't kids!

O. Oranges or Apples? That depends. I really like mandarins when they are in season and I like nice hard juicy green apples but sometimes you can get really disgusting oranges and apples. I'll go with apples as they seem to be nice more often haha.

P. Pet Peeves? People being two faced and talking behind peoples backs! I also hate when guys spit, eewwww.

Q. Quotes? This is kind of a morbid depressing one but I really like it "You have spent an infinite amount of years waiting to be born and you will spend another infinite amount of years being dead, eat your cereal and go outside" -  it really makes ya think!

R. Reasons to smile? Nicky, family, ice-cream, my blog, my blog friends, my students, blue skies, music and so much more.

S. Season of choice? Summer all the way. I can't wait for it. I love the smell of freshly cut grass, of palm trees. The long days, 99 ice cream cones and smoothies, driving with the windows down, going to the beach. Ugh I just cannot wait.

T. Tea or Coffee? I love both but to me tea is the solution to all of life's problems. It's just so relaxing.
U. Unknown fact about me? I accidently stabbed myself with a pencil when I was a child and to this day I still have a pencil led inside the skin on my knee. True story.

V. Vegetable? I really love vegetables. I like carrots, parsnips, sprouts, brocolli, cabbage and peas.

W. Worst habit? Staying up too late. No matter what, I will stay up later than I should even if I am tired. It's 1am now as I write this!

X. X-Ray or Ultra-sound? I've had a few x-rays when I was a child because I had a really sore shoulder (woke up most nights crying!) for several years. We never found out what it was. I spent years, probably about age 8-11 trying to get it better and nothing worked. I then went to one of those weird 'healer' people who puts their hand on you and says a few words and I haven't looked back since!

Y. Your favourite trip? My favourite trip was probably to Barcelona in 2013. It was such an amazing and beautiful city with some of the most amazing architecture you could imagine. I really want to go back some day.

Z. Zodiac sign? My Zodiac sign is Aquarius. Not much more to say here? haha.

And there we have it, you now have a whole bunch of useless information about me, you're welcome!

If any of you decide to do this post, let me know and I will have a peek.

100 Happy Days Weekly Round-Up 13

8 Feb 2015

Day 85 - Sunday 01/02/15 | Today I went out for dinner with my family to celebrate my birthday. We go this one hotel for so many occasions and it really has ah-mazing food. This is a picture of my starter. I usually go for the safe option - soup as I always love that but I went a bit wild and got fish cakes. They were fab. I then had rib of beef for main which was also divine. I'm not much of a dessert person as I'm always full when it comes to that stage. I did steal some of my mums pavalova (is that how it's spelled?) though.

Day 86 - Monday 02/02/15 | MONDAY WAS MY BIRTHDAY! I didn't really do anything on the day to celebrate, it was just any other Monday. I did have a little cake and some treats with my nieces and nephew, that was more for them than me, I may have let them blow out the candles ;)

Day 87 - Tuesday 03/02/15 | Probably my favourite birthday present. I got the Viva La Juicy perfume from my Mum. The 30ml bottle came in a little kit with a lovely pink make-up bag, travel sized perfume, body lotion and a set of these amazing nail stickers! I've never tried nail stickers before but I really like them so I'll definitely be buying some in the future. Anyone else like nail stickers?

Day 88 - Wednesday 04/02/15 | I had another newly qualified teacher workshop today. I always like them even though it is sitting down for 2 hours but I find them interesting and really helpful. Also, my friend/cousin who I went to school with, all through uni with and was on teaching practice with was at this one so we had a lovely catch-up and came up with some possible 'team' tutoring ideas that we might do together as we both teach the same subjects (Yeah, we're basically the same person lol)

Day 89 - Thursday 05/02/15 | Bop bop bop bop bop I'm lovin' it! Sometimes life calls for a McDonald's and today was one of those days. I haven't had it for ages and I was craving a McChicken sandwich SO bad. IT WAS THE BOMB.

Day 90 - Friday 06/02/15 | I know what you're thinking 'another food picture' but sometimes the pictures of food represent the happiness that surrounds them not just the actual food haha. I had lots of fun baking red velvet cupcakes today. They kind of didn't rise, they were teeny, like two bites! but they tasted really good which is the main thing I reckon.

Day 91 - Saturday 07/02/15 | This picture is basically a view through my eyes of most of my nights. I swear this dog should have been called Shadow. He is obsessed with me! He literally follows me everywhere. I don't think any body who isn't a blood relative has loved me this much haha.

Only 1 more '100 Happy Days' post left, can you believe it? Time really does fly, it scares the crap out of me if I am honest. Anyways, annoyingly 100 is not divisible by 7 so my last post is going to be 9 pictures from Today (Sunday) until Tuesday the 17th!

I hope you've all had a wonderful week and a fun weekend. I would love to know if you got up to anything exciting, let me know in the comments my friends!

Much Love,

Twenty Two

2 Feb 2015

Today, I am 22.

Am I 'feelin' 22'? I think so. I'm finished university, I'm out in the real world and have all the freedom that 22 year olds should have. In one way, I am very wise and have learned quiet a lot about this crazy world during my 22 years on it. On the other hand, I am completely immature. I'm not really sure how to steer my life in the direction I want it to go. I will stay in bed past noon, I will drink way too much alcohol, kiss a guy I shouldn't kiss, put off grown up responsibilities, I could go on and on. But I think thats what being 22 is.

I remember when I was 16 or 17 and I thought 22 was so mature, very grown up, at 22 you were an established adult, you would be wise and sophisticated and have your life together. But now that I am 22 I realise that growing up is actually an unending process. We are constantly rethinking our lives and remodelling ourselves. There is no point in your life where you say 'right, I'm completely mature now, I have nothing more to learn, I am exactly who I want to be'. I definitely have a long way to go. I have a lot to experience, a lot to learn and I will probably change my thoughts and perceptions of the world a million more times.

However, I thought it would be nice and maybe even helpful to share with you 22 things I have learned in my 22 years.
  1. Don't ever 'settle' Whether it's with friends, boyfriends or you didn't get the food you ordered. Never settle for something that is not what you really want.
  2. Don't care so much what other people think about you Every teenager does this I'm sure. I was terrible for this in secondary school and it caused a lot of sadness. Now, I try to be myself, be respectful and kind and if they don't like your personality it's not your problem!
  3. Don't be a sheep, be your own person You don't have to do what everyone else is doing. If you'd rather stay in than go out, do it! If you love collecting pictures of cats, do it, who cares if people laugh!
  4. Don't compare yourself to others They're will always be people who seem happier, more confident, more outgoing and prettier than you. You just got to recognise your own qualities and be happy with that. Only compare yourself to who you were yesterday.
  5. Take loads of pictures Memories fade, pictures never do! I love how I took so many pictures from 17-20. I really wish I took more of recent events.
  6. Time really does fly It goes so fast! far off years will arrive before you know it. Enjoy every stage of life!
  7. Relationship does not equal happiness I have been in relationships during which I cried myself to sleep every night and I have been completely alone and incredibly content too.
  8. Be thankful Stop focusing on what you don't have and be grateful for all of your blessings, there are many if you look hard!
  9. Be cautious with who your trust Don't trust anyone based on what they tell you. People lie to get what they want. Actions always speak louder than words.
  10. Remove negative people from your life I don't mean be nasty and tell them to f off haha, I just mean take a step back from people who bring you down or make you feel bad. Literally, even if they are your only friend, you will be better off alone. Besides you can always drop me an email and I'll be a better friend ;) haha.
  11. It's OK to cry. When your lying in your bed crying, don't feel like a pathetic loser. Remember, everyone cries and when you're finished you will feel much better.
  12. Mum is always right and she knows everything too, don't even try to lie to her! haha.
  13. Save, save, save Spending money is always fun but it's really important to save for a rainy day, even if it's just 10% of your income. You will be so glad when something in your car breaks!
  14. Things always get better Even in the worst of times there is always hope for the future. I wrote a blog post relating to this idea, you can read it here.
  15. Don't worry too much about the future Sometimes, we all need to stop worrying, chilax and trust that everything will work out OK.
  16. You will lose friends I've had a few best friends that are now nothing more than strangers with memories. Don't feel bad about yourself if  your friend seems to have found someone new or doesn't seem to want to talk or hang out any more. There's nothing wrong with you, people just grow apart sometimes.
  17. Move on from the past I'm still trying to do this but I've come to realise how important it is. Don't let something that happened in the past hold you back.
  18. Nobody has everything figured out That super popular girl in school, that scary man giving you your job interview. None of them are perfect. Don't feel intimidated by them, we're all just humans trying to get through life.
  19. People do change So your best friend has found a new group of friends, has done a complete 180 on their personality, and doesn't like anything she used to like. You could wreck your head about how this has happened. Insist that they're being fake and not themselves but maybe it is only now they are being themselves. Learn to let go.
  20. Some people won't like you This relates to 'don't care about what people think about you'. Just because some people think you are too quiet or too loud doesn't mean everyone will and it doesn't mean you need to change.
  21. Don't worry about your appearance A lot of people think that appearance is more important than it really is. Honestly, being pretty will only get you so far. It may make a good first impression but it is your personality that will really determine if people will like you.
  22. Live in the moment Don't wish your life away, don't be dying to turn 18, or to leave school. Enjoy every age. Appreciate the positives of every stage in life.
Gosh, that was a lot, it makes me feel kind of old thinking that's how many years I am haha.

100 Happy Days Weekly Round-Up 12

1 Feb 2015

Day 78 - Sunday 25/01/15 | I spent Sunday evening in with my brother so I made us this delicious pasta dish. Not gonna lie I totally just threw what ever was in the fridge in to it. This is chicken, mushrooms and red peppers. It got my brothers approval, yay! I'm usually a terrible chef!

Day 79 - Monday 26/01/15 | On Monday, I went to visit my aunt with my mum and she gave me this picture of me as a child that she found in her attic. It was a 2001 calendar that my school made, I was only 7! We had a laugh at how much things have changed since then as the calendar just had this photo glued on to it haha, there was no back in those days! or digital cameras even.

Day 80 - Tuesday 27/01/15 | Tuesday was a pretty boring, run of the mill day but I did end up drawing in the evening. I love to draw random little things like this, I find it so therapeutic. I'm not sure what this is, super colourful feather maybe?

Day 81 - Wednesday 28/01/15 | My nephew came over for a visit this evening and turned the house upside down with his big box of blocks. Those blocks went everywhere! Everytime he plays with them he insists on putting Nicky in the box, can you see him peeking out in this picture? I felt sorry for him, he didn't even try to get out haha.

Day 82 - Thursday 29/01/15 | Thursday I was in town and I seen Easter decorations, really? Christmas is just over! Nevertheless, I was like OMG when I seen them because they were sooo cute. There were white bunnies, trees with colourful eggs hanging on them and gorgeous wreathes with eggs. I love all the pretty colours! #rolloneaster

Day 83 - Friday 30/01/15 | The weather this week was insane! so indecisive. It was snowing one minute and then beautiful sunshine the next. I took this picture of the white flower in front of the snow covered window.

Day 84 - Saturday 31/01/15 | OK I have a confession to make. I'm really bad at taking photos at events or on occasions which is kind of ridiculous because I take photos of some of the most boring things. But I guess I don't think about it when I'm busy and enjoying myself. Anyways, today I went to a talent show competition that my niece was participating in; she was singing a duet with her friend. I helped them prepare, did their hair and went with the family to watch. I was so nervous for her I could barely look never mind take a picture, all the other acts were really great too, here's a random one photographed haha!

It was a great week all round and I love how these posts remind me of the simplest of joys. I really hope you all had a wonderful week and weekend. I would love to hear how it was in the comments!
