Interview with a blogger | Georgina's Beauty and Make-Up

26 Feb 2014

Hey Everyone!
Time for another edition of 'Interview with a blogger' YAY! I'm excited about this one. I am interviewing Georgina from Georgina's Beauty and Make-Up I love her blog! to find out why go check out my blog post about my top five blogs of 2013 here.
Make sure to go check out Georgina's lovely blog and share some love.

Georgina is clearly drop-dead-gorgeous.

1. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I love interacting with people! I've found some amazing blogs and I love reading about what they have got up to and talking to them about all things beauty and lifestyle! Its amazing how everyone can connect through blogging!

2. What do you own more of, eye products or lip products?
This is a no brainer for me, lip products all the way. I feel naked without something on my lips, my go to look is simple make-up with a bright lip!

3.Who is your biggest make-up inspiration?
Karla Powell, she is a professional make-up artist and her work is amazing! She has done so well for herself and one day I would love to be able to have achieved what she has, she is definitely a big inspiration!

4.What is one thing that you have always wanted to do but haven’t done yet? what’s stopping you?
I've always wanted to just jump on a train and go anywhere for the day, the only thing that's stopping me is money and I'm awful with directions, I'd probably end up ringing someone asking them how do I get home!

5. What is one thing you would like to achieve in the next 5 years?
In the next 5 years I would like to have got my own house with my boyfriend, have a full time job and have travelled to at least 2 different places, preferably Australia or Ireland!

6. What is your favourite thing to do with friends? why?
Back at school every Wednesday me and my best friend used to go to the cinema and do the 2 for 1 deal, we always had so much fun even if the film was rubbish! We haven't done that for ages though but we do still sometimes go, we mainly just stay round each others houses now and that involves lots of giggles!

7. If you could ask one famous person a question, who would it be and what would you ask them?
Hmm I'm not too sure what to answer for this question, it would probably be Beyonce and I'd ask how she stays so flawless all the time!

8. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I hate mornings so much, although since going out with Graham (who loves the morning) I have got better at getting up earlier! I just seem to love the night and I seem to wake up when it gets past 10pm, my whole family is like it!

9. In everyday life, what is your number one pet peeve?
One thing that drives me insane is when people are nice to someone and then turn around and bitch about them! There is no need to be so fake around someone, if you don't like someone then don't say anything to them at all!

10. What ability or skill do you most wish you had? why?
I know this is such a common answer but I've always wanted to be able to read someone's mind, I'd love to know what people are thinking although I can imagine after a while it would get quite annoying!

I loved Georgina's answers and I definitely agree with most of them. I am such a night owl too. Beyonce is waaay too flawless, I can't even comprehend it either so let me know what she says and that thing about being two faced, I'm with ya girl!

Fresh Start Sunday #1

23 Feb 2014

I think we all experience rejection. Whether it be the boy you like not liking you back, or your friends not including you. It is so easy to become disheartened and think that you're not good enough. We start to think about the reasons they may have rejected us and this causes us to pick out all of our flaws, leaving us blind of our value.
I love this quote because it is so true. I think we need to remember that one persons dis-appreciation of  you does not mean that you are not wonderful and that people would not be blessed to have you in their lives.
There are so many amazing things about all of us, just because one person can't see them or value them does not mean they are not they. Never let anyone tell you that you're not good enough. Believe in yourself and focus on the people who do see how wonderful and valuable you are.

What's in my Bag? | Uni Edition

22 Feb 2014

I started writing a 'Saturday Summary' post but I literally had nothing to talk about. I had such a boring week. It revolved around me doing my assignment which is huge - worth 25% of my total grade! so yeah endless hours in the library does not make for a very interesting 'Saturday Summary' post.

So I thought I would do something a bit different, well different for me, lets face it, this is pretty common amongst bloggers and YouTubers ....dun dun dun... It's a 'What's in my bag | Uni edition' meaning the bag I take to Uni everyday. And yeah that 'dun dun dun' was pretty pointless considering you already knew from the title ;)

Anyways, I present to you my bag and all of its contents! hope you enjoy having a nose.

Bag; River Island

I would highly recommend this bag.  I have it for a few months now, I only use it for school and college and when I'm in school it especially has to lug around lots of folders and copies etc.. and it has lasted! Every bag I have for this purpose always breaks so I'm really impressed by this one!

Purse: River Island

And that's what's in my everyday bag! as you can see I'm not one to lug around the contents of my room. Just the bare essentials. Are you one of those people who brings everything everywhere or are you more like me?
I hope you liked this slightly different kind of post from me. If you've done a similar 'What's in my bag' post be sure to let me know in the comments.

Kisses,
♥

Saturday Summary #5

17 Feb 2014

Hey Everyone,
I was just going to leave this weekends Saturday Summary because I have been feeling SO sick all weekend. I woke up on Valentines Day feeling like death, luckily I am single so it wasn't too much of an issue, haha, but it still sucked! I'm just starting to feel my old self again now on Sunday night and I actually feel in the mood to write about my week.
So here is how it was :)

  • Went back to Uni this week (can I get a hell yeah?!) I was soooooooooo happy to be back, the kids in school were starting to do my head in and I really missed all my uni friends, the fun we have and just the uni lifestyle. It was so lovely to see everyone again, honestly, I can't even describe our friendships, we're just always laughing and spend most of our time in some cafe eating 'cause we're fat :P
  • On Tuesday night we went out to celebrate my 21st! I had planned on us going to a nice cocktail bar to start the night but one of my guy friends (who I kinda have a thing for, but I don't know if he has a thing for me, mind-games, confused, I hate boys aghhh etc) asked me if I wanted to have a little get together at his place first and then head to the nightclub, so obviously, I said yes. I won't go into detail but I had A LOT of fun! most of my friends from uni were there and some of my old friends from school. They all had got me a cake and a card signed by them all. I felt so loved!!!
  • That Tuesday night happened to also be the night of a storm, it was windy and raining and I was wearing a dress - I think that's where I must have picked up my illness :(
  • On Wednesday there was a teaching fair in Uni. Most of the stalls there were British because apparently there's a shortage of teachers in the UK whilst there's too many here, in Ireland. They were all trying to show us how much they need us, what areas we could go to, what they had to offer etc etc. The prospect of having to move away from home is not a pretty one for me. I've never planned on it but if it has to be done, and if one or two of my friends venture across the pond with me I guess it won't be so bad. At least to get experience for a year or two. I would hate to have to stay forever though :(
I think that's pretty much all that is worth sharing from this week. It was basically just getting back to Uni, reuniting with my friends, looking to the future, learning about interviews & CVs, and getting sick at the end of the week. I always have more personal things I want to share but I am always afraid to, the internet is scary sometimes, eh? Anyways, I have a 7'000 word essay due in two weeks so I need to get cracking on that next week. Fun times.

How was your week? please do let me know in the comments :)

Thanks for Reading,
Sinead

Interview with a Blogger | Making Things Alive

12 Feb 2014

Hey Everyone!
Time for the next instalment of 'Interview with a blogger' you all seem to be enjoying this series so I have interviewed two more bloggers who will be going up in the next couple of weeks. I really love interacting with all of you guys and this is a great way to do it because I try and come up with questions that are tailored to the person I am interviewing.
Today, I am interviewing Anais from Making Things Alive, she does lots of lifestyle & DIY posts. She is a relatively new blogger so be sure to check her out and give her some love!

1. What inspired your blog name?
Well, I don't know. I think the name 'just came to me'. I didn't think about it too much but before starting my blog I had this idea to post crafts, origami and what not, and the name was related to that. Making things from paper and "giving them life".

2. What are your favourite type of blog posts to read and write?
I definitely enjoy beauty blogs, but I also like to read people's experiences and lifestyles ( and almost everything ). As for what I like to write? Well, I don't think I'm a good writer and blah blah, so I just post little pieces of my life and what I like to do. I also love doing books reviews and sharing some ideas that I think are cool.

3. What websites do you spend the most time on?
It's funny because an "average" girl of almost sixteen years old would say something related to social media, but me? I spend all my time on YouTube and Wattpad. Wattpad is a web site where you can read stories of "writers wannabes". I really respect those who have the talent and beat their fears to share it :)

4. If you could give one piece of advice to a large group of people what would it be?
"Be brave enough to be different and follow your own star", I don't quite remember who said this to me (so many years ago) but I do hold this quote close to my heart. Just because everybody is wearing red, it doesn't mean you should wear that colour when you prefer wearing green. Just do ( and wear ) what makes YOU happy.

5. If you could be any character from any movie, who would you be and why?
This is a very hard question. I love so many characters because they have their own personalities and good and bad traits. But if I only have to just choose one it would be ... Natasha Romanoff. When I was younger I always played spies with my sister, and come on, Natasha is a very powerful woman who is really badass and has this "romantic" thing with agent Clint Barton. Who wouldn't want to be her and have Barton as your boyfriend? Hahah ;)

6. What is the bravest thing you have done in your life?
I don't think someone's brave because they have jumped from a burning building carrying an old lady and her cat. I think bravery also means taking difficult decisions, standing up for what you believe in, or when you don't let people's judgement change you. I believe I'm brave for those things.

7. Where in the world would you most like to visit and why?
Mmm, there's not just one place I would like to visit. There're too many, but one of them is England ( the whole country ). Since I was a kid I've wanted to travel around the world and England has always been on the list of places to go.

8. What do you think is the secret to staying happy?
This is an easy one, it's very simple but most people forget about it. Just be grateful for what you have. When you truly stop to think about how many things you have ( education, family, friends, a house , food, etc) the list never ends. We have so many things that sometimes we take for granted.

9. If you could only listen to the music of one artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Please don't ask me this. I'm always looking for new artists and music so I don't have a favourite. You can find anything from Pop and R&B to Korean and Indian music ( all genres in general) in my playlist. I'm really sorry but I'll break the rules in this question and won't give a proper answer to it ( oopss! ).

10. You have gorgeous curly hair, what is your daily hare care/style routine?
I'm sure some people will think "WHAT?! THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE!!!" but the truth is I don't have a "hair care" routine. I just wash my hair three times per week only using shampoo (twice), just when I have time I will use some conditioner. The only thing that I do differently is I never use the blow dryer, and just for special occasions I straighten my hair or do something that could damage it.

Looking on the bright side of life

9 Feb 2014

Hey everyone!

Lately I've been feeling a bit all over the place if I'm honest but today I'm feeling especially optimistic and like I have a lot to be happy about and greatful for. It's amazing how we can dwell on the things that make us sad and forget about all the blessings we have. I'm going to write down all the reasons I have to be happy. Maybe in the future when I feel sad I can go back to this blog post and cheer myself up. I challenge all of you to do the same, write down everything good in your life, everything you should be thankful for.

  • I'm healthy, I think this is something every one takes for granted. It's not until something happens that you realise just how important it is and how much it means.
  •  I have an amazing loving family, my Mum and Dad are the best I could ask for, they do everything they can for me. My older sister is always there for me and my older brother is also always watching out for me.
  • I have the sweetest nieces and nephew who brighten my day every time I see their beautiful smiles
  •  I have an education and the determinism to become a qualified teacher.
  •  I've never had a fall out with anyone, all of my old friends still talk to me and keep in contact, I'm still friends with all of my ex's.
  • I'm young! I hopefully have a long exciting life ahead of me.
  • I have some amazing friends who make my life all the better, I have about 13 people I feel I can rely on and love.
  • I have so much support from my colleagues in school - who seem to really care about my development.
  • I don't have much money but I have enough for everything I need
  • I get to live in the quiet countryside which I love and feel safe in.
  • I love my hair this colour :P
  • In my spare time I get to go outside with my camera and take some pretty photos, that really makes me happy.
  • I have a roof over my head, all the food, water and love I need - what more can I really ask for?

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm showing off or something. Trust me I have plenty of things that suck about my life but I've decided to focus on the positive and be happy in life. As you can see all of the things that make me happy are pretty small and simple, I bet you can all write a list of the reasons why you should be happy too. Just think about it for a while :)

Love,
Sinead

Saturday Summary #4

8 Feb 2014

Hey Friends!
I missed last weeks 'Saturday Summary' unfortunately because I was getting ready for my twenty first party on the Sunday. So that means one thing, we have LOTS to catch up on.
Hmm I'm finding it a struggle to remember back on the week before last.

One of the main things that happened was I got my teaching practice inspection, I was so glad to have it finally over with. It's so nerve-wrecking having someone in watching you teach and then speaking about it with you for an hour and a half after! It went pretty well though, of course there was criticism but she said I have improved since the last time so I am hoping all is good!
One of the things that made me happy this week was the support and help from the English teacher whom I'm taking classes for and who was my English teacher when I was in school. It's crazy to think I was afraid of him because he was so strict and now I see him as the nicest man because of all the time he spent making sure my inspection (which was on in his English class) went well.

On the Friday of last week, I went out for a few drinks with my sister, my brother and their husband and girlfriend. We went to three different and very lively pubs and then went for a take-away after. It was nice to go out and spend some good quality time with each other.

On Sunday, the 2nd it was my 21st birthday, you can read all about that here. It was an amazing day with all my friends and family, I wanted to mark this milestone well and I'm glad I did :)

This week was my last week of teaching practice (for now) the other student teachers in my school were all super sad about this and were really disappointed to be leaving but to be honest, I have been so stressed out with it that I'm glad to be having a break. When I say having a break, I mean going back to college and completing a 7'000 word essay.

These last two weeks I've really started talking to old friends who I haven't spoken to in ages whether it be over Facebook or in person. It's been really nice to reconnect with some people and I feel like I have lots of friends I can speak to now, which is always good.

I think that's pretty much everything. My life has been kind of boring lately, but at the same time it hasn't been because I have been so busy with college/teaching and my personal life too. To all of you who have asked to take part in my 'Interview with a blogger' series - I haven't forget! I'll get to it eventually I promise.
For now, I'm just really excited to go back to college next week, see all my friends from there, get to be a college student again, fit in some fun and be young!

A Late Winters Walk

7 Feb 2014

I went for a walk today and brought along my DSLR camera to take some snaps of nature. It was such a lovely day for a walk. Dry, sunny but yet extremely cold, I assure you...my eyes were streaming! I kind of like getting out on days like this though. It's nice, fresh and brisk, I always feel so rejuvenated and happier afterwards!
Anyways, I thought I would share some photos I took, sorry if you think this is an incredibly random blogpost - you're right it is! but I got a new DSLR camera and I enjoy playing with it.

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living.
We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon
instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.

Soap and Glory | 'Solar Powder' Bronzer

4 Feb 2014

Hey Everyone!
Time for my final instalment in my Soap and Glory product reviews! This time it's 'Solar Powder' bronzer.
I'm not much of a bronzer person, in fact I've never really used a bronzer before because I was always slightly scared of them. However, I started to get more and more in to make-up and wanted to use contouring more and more so I decided to invest in this bronzer because I heard it was good and also I just love the packaging - CUTE!

It contains two shades - a darker and lighter shade which could be alternated between the seasons but I like to mix them together using my Real Techniques contour brush and apply it to below my cheek bones to contour and that works a treat! It is really natural which is exactly what I am looking for, it just looks like I have amazing natural cheek bone structure. It is not orange at all like some and works great as an all over bronzer to provide a sun-kissed look.
This does not get cakey or blotchy like some powders and stays in place for me for a whole day of college.
If you are looking for a nice matte bronzer I would definitely recommend this product. For around €15/£10 it is definitely worth the money. For a drug store product I think it's pretty awesome.

My 21st Birthday

3 Feb 2014

Hey Everyone!
I turned 21 on Sunday February 2nd and I thought I'd better mark this milestone here on my blog.
I had such a lovely day. I had a little house party at my house. All of my extended family came (and that's a lot) as well as some family friends. We had a marquee up outside, it was a bit cold though so it wasn't put to much use. We had so much food, lasagne and chicken curry. My sister made an abundance of cup cakes, muffins, chocolate marshmallows, cakes, and of course there was my birthday cake.
It was so nice to get all the family together to celebrate with me. Two of my childhood friends who I hadn't seen in what feels like forever also came along and that really helped to make the day all the more perfect.
Everyone was so generous, I got so many lovely gifts. My sister bought me a beautiful ring which looks just like Kate Middletons engagement ring. I really should have put a picture of it on this post but I will tweet it! @DreamingAgain_ (haha sly promo there) my favourite thing I got though was from my parents, a DSLR camera! I was so excited as I wanted one forever. I can't wait to start using it properly. In the meantime, here are some snaps I took of the day with it. I didn't take very many pictures worth sharing (I took loads of me and my family and friends but that's not very exciting for you guys) I guess I was too busy enjoying myself to think about taking pictures for my blog! haha.

Thanks for reading x

NUMARI "The Diagonal Colour Block Sheath Dress" | Fashion February

1 Feb 2014

Hey Everyone!
I am taking part in 'Fashion February' which was an idea of Ali from The Cute Little Beauty Blog. To find out more visit the link!
Basically, every week of February we will be sent an item of clothing and we will have to chose 5 other items of clothing/accessories to go with it.
This week the item of clothing is NUMARI's "The Diagonal Color Block Sheath Dress".
I absolutely love this dress. As you can see, it is a really casual but classy sheath dress which could be dressed up or dressed down. I decided to go with a 'dressed down' look. I tried to keep the look sophisticated but cute with the bowler hat (which I think is so adorable, I would love to be brave enough to wear it), a leather jacket, black ankle boots, cream watch and a beige and black tote bag which I think is my favourite item of all! I found all of these items on Newlook.
I am pretty happy as I think they would go very well with the dress and would make a fantastic outfit that would take you from day to night!
What do you think of the dress and the items I have chosen to go with it?
